The Neonatal Unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford is one of the largest in the country, and provides specialist level 3 medical and surgical ICU care for babies across the Thames Valley Neonatal Network.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who will strengthen, promote and deliver training and education to ensure that patients receive a high standard of care.

The Neonatal Unit Practice Development and Education Lead (PDEL) will provide a pivotal role in ensuring alignment of directorate, divisional and corporate (Trust-wide) practice development, education and training activities for non-medical staff.
The post holder is required to support informed investment of educational resources in meeting service needs and priorities that benefits patients and staff.
In addition, the post holder will lead in the identification of education and training needs of staff and plan, implement and evaluate educational activities for students, new starters and existing members of non-medical staff (Band 1-8) within their directorate in the Division.

The PDEL will work collegiately to ensure standards are established, implemented and sustained, particularly those related to staff knowledge, skills development, service improvement and patient safety.
The post‑holder will demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills commensurate with a clinical expert and effective leader and manager; serve as a credible role-model; an agent of change and a facilitator of work-based learning.
The post holder will work minimum of 20% of their time clinically (not in the standard staffing numbers) working with students, new starters and existing staff especially those who are doing post graduate studies and research.
The PDEL will work maximum of 80% of their time leading and managing the Nursing Education Team in their directorate: reviewing and developing education activities; leading in‑house courses (both accredited and non-accredited); attending meetings relating to practice development and education activities/programmes.
In conjunction with other CPE (Clinical Practice Educators), Managers, Matrons, Directorate and Divisional Leads for Practice Development and Education, the PDEL will participate and contribute to the annual review and development of the strategic education plan for non-medical staff.
