About the role
As a Support Worker, you will be part of a dedicated team providing essential support to children and young people, focusing on their daily needs, life skills, and well-being. You will work closely with those who require intensive support due to trauma-induced behaviours, helping them overcome trauma, rebuild trust in adults, and form positive relationships. Your role involves being a positive role model, organising activities, providing emotional and physical support, empowering decision-making, addressing challenges, and preparing young people for independence. Key duties
* Support young people through 1:1 weekly Key Working sessions, working towards their individualised Care Plans to promote happy and healthy lives.
* Accompany young people to appointments, reviews, and meetings to build their confidence and independence.
* Conduct ongoing risk assessments to determine the appropriate level of intervention for each individual.
* Provide high-quality support in a residential setting, assisting with daily routines such as meal preparation, personal care, and recreational activities.
* Develop positive relationships with young people, offering emotional support and encouragement.
* Implement and follow individual support plans and risk assessments, promoting independence and self-esteem.
* Maintain accurate records.
* Ensure a safe environment and adhere to safeguarding and health & safety policies.
* Support young people with everyday tasks, including finances, appointments, community outings, and social activities.
* Encourage participation in home routines and activities.
* Promote education and support therapeutic plans.
* Collaborate with the team to advocate for young people and ensure they are safe, treated with dignity, and protected from bullying and prejudice.
* Maintain the home environment, participate in shifts and on-call duties.
* Undergo necessary training in line with workplace policies.
Requirements/what do we need from you?
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and health & safety protocols is essential.
* Physical restraint training is required.
* Autism Training is preferred.
* Experience working with children and young people who have mental health, behavioural, or emotional needs, such as Autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties.
* Passionate, positive, and caring individuals dedicated to supporting children and young people in residential settings.
* Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
* Ability to function effectively as a self-employed individual, managing business operations, and client relationships.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* Full UK driving licence is essential.
* Skills in British Sign Language (BSL) or knowledge of multi-sensory impairments and learning difficulties are beneficial.
* Empathetic, patient, energetic, and resilient.
* A genuine passion for enhancing others' lives.
* Experience in mental health support or transferable skills from education, policing, or working with vulnerable people is valuable.
* Must have the right to work in the UK.
* Willingness to attend necessary training to support the role.
* Trained in Physical restraint Declaration of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs Training) is preferred.

Job Title: Support worker
Location: Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire
Hours: Full time working long days and sleep ins
(Including 8 sleeps per month)
Hours - 38 hours per week
Salary: £25,000 - £28,619 (£12.65 - £14.20 per hour) plus approx estimate: £3000 - £6000 pa for sleep-ins. (£62.64 per sleep-in) (Performance related and depending on qualifications.)
The shifts are varied and generally a mixture between 7am-2.30pm, 2.30pm-10pm and 10pm-7am, Monday - Sunday. Flexibility is essential to support the valuable service we provide.
Full UK Driving licence is required. Must be able to commute.
