Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and driven therapy assistant to join our Medical Specialities Therapy team as a Band 4 therapy assistant. The team supports and provides care to patient across a variety of medical specialities. You will be working under the guidance of physiotherapists and occupational therapists, assisting patients with rehabilitation and supporting their safe discharge from the hospital. You will aslo be expected to hold a small caseload under supervision. This post offers a rewarding opportunity for someone with previous experience in healthcare to work within a therapy team. You will have support to develop your skills in therapy interventions for patients across the medical specialities, at the same time as having the opportunity to expand your knowledge with access to in-service training, regular supervision and support. Key responsibilities of the post include, gathering information on patient's history, ordering equipment, follow up with exercise plans already established by therapist and working as an essential team member in the Multi-Disciplinary Team. Main duties of the job To provide skilled routine, and non-routine, clinical and technical support to the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy team and clerical staff associated with the team. To accept patients allocated by the Therapists, assess and treat according to protocols and guidelines. To monitor patient progression and make alterations to intervention as required. To work independently, with access to direct supervision as required. To maintain close communication with the team to facilitate patient care. To organise and participate in the team induction and in-service training programmes. Routinely providing in-service training to team colleagues. To carry out other duties deemed necessary by the Lead Clinician in discussion with the post holder to ensure adequate provision of service.
