Main duties of the job
Within this role the main duties will include working in one or more of the following areas:
* Ward based clinical services (including but not limited to admissions, surgery, cardiology, respiratory, gastroenterology, care of the elderly)
* Dispensary services if service requires

Job responsibilities
Undertake general pharmaceutical duties under the supervision of a Section Manager or deputy, assisting in the provision of a safe and effective Pharmacy service in line with current policies, procedures and legal requirements.
Work within patient services undertaking medicines optimisation/discharge duties on the wards, improving the quality of care to patients in a clinical area by means of an efficient medicines optimisation system. This will include undertaking medicines reconciliation, assessing patients' own medicines ensuring they are suitable for use in hospital, maintaining and ordering non-stock medicines for patients and counselling patients on use of their medicines and provide information where required.
Work in the dispensary final accuracy checking prescriptions and provide support to the dispensary manager and lead technician in the co-ordination of the day to day running of the dispensary.
All Pharmacy staff involved in all aspects of Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01) have a personal responsibility to ensure that all activities undertaken within our hospital Pharmacy are compliant with Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01) and all relevant department procedures are followed effectively.
Person Specification
Experience
* NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services and a BTEC in Pharmaceutical science (or equivalent qualification and underpinning knowledge)
* Professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (registration number required)
* Accredited Checking Technician qualification and / or an accredited medicines optimisation qualification
* Working in a busy Dispensary
Qualifications
* NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services and a BTEC in Pharmaceutical science (or equivalent qualification and underpinning knowledge)
* Professional registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (registration number required)
* Accredited Checking Technician qualification and / or an accredited medicines optimisation qualification
Knowledge
* Good IT skills including Microsoft applications
* Able to concentrate for prolonged periods when subject to changing working patterns
* Be able to provide and receive information where there may be barriers to understanding
* Knowledge and clear understanding of Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01), and other relevant regulations, guidance and quality standards

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 a year pro rata
