To work as part of an autonomous and innovative team specialising in foot and lower limb care and pathologies. The role will initially be centered around diabetic foot screening, foot health management and the taking of bloods.
With experience the role can evolve, treating nail care pathologies, assisting nail surgery, callus debridement, supporting the diabetic foot MDT. Potential to develop as a Podiatrist with funded enrolment onto an apprenticeship to become a HCPC registered Podiatrist.
To implement individualised care program for patients with foot pathology and medical need as prescribed by a State Registered Podiatrist. This will include patients with a wide range of clinical need, including patients who are at increased risk of significant foot problems such as neuropathy, chronic diseases, vascular impairment and wound management.
Main role in Diabetic Foot screening, education and grading
Nail cutting, filing and drilling of nails can be worked towards
Manufacture of simple insole devices
To support the high risk team in wound management following a prescribed care plan
Maintenance of stock levels, ordering new stock and maintenance of all podiatry assets on a register
To participate in audit e.g. infection control, healthcare records audits
To act as an assistant in nail surgery
To follow as care plans for wound care including nail surgery redressing and foot ulceration

To provide a range of duties as agreed and delegated by a podiatrist in a range of locations including clinical, domiciliary, hospital, nursing homes and other external settings.
To undertake and complete relevant training and competency programmes. Mentorship and supervision will be provided to support this.
To treat a wide range of patient groups including those with barriers to communication and vulnerable groups.
Arranging timely referral and escalation where deterioration in foot health.
To have highly developed physical skills, precision hand/ eye coordination requiring frequent concentration for prolonged periods, e.g. skilled debridement techniques.
