Position: Teacher/Subject Leader - Food Technology
Salary: MPS / UPS + SEN
Contract: Permanent, Part-time (19.5 hours per week)
Location: Cornfield School, Littlehampton
Required From: ASAP or Summer Term
Cornfield School is located in the seaside town of Littlehampton and has 77 students aged between 8 and 16 who have Social, Emotional, or Behavioural difficulties. We are looking to appoint a Teacher/Subject Leader of Food Technology to start as soon as possible. The successful applicant will work alongside our friendly and supportive team of professionals who put the students at the heart of what we do.
The successful candidate will demonstrate robustness and resilience as the role can be extremely rewarding but very demanding. It is important to maintain a level of calm and have excellent communication skills with both adults and young people. Good organisational skills, the ability to multitask, and acting as a role model for students are essential.
The ideal applicant will have recent experience working with children with SEN; experience in Social, Emotional, and Communication Difficulties would be advantageous. Management experience is also an advantage, as well as the ability to demonstrate excellent classroom practice.
This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to work in a good school (OFSTED June 2021) that focuses on supporting SEMH students to become more independent and provide them with skills and experiences that will enable them to be successful in life. This post would be suitable for experienced and recently qualified practitioners wanting to commit to working with challenging students.
Applications are invited from candidates on either TMS or UPS pay scale. Visits to the school are strongly advised and encouraged.
Please see Job Description and Person Specification attached. Completed application forms should be sent to Caroline Furlonger, School Business Manager. Visits to the school can also be arranged by email or by calling 01903 731277.
Closing date: Friday 21st February at 9.00am
Interviews will be held on: Tuesday 25th February 2025
Cornfield School and West Sussex County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to an appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service check along with other relevant employment checks, including satisfactory references.
