About your team:
At British Gas Energy, our ambition is to be Britain's favourite energy supplier.
We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon-footprint.
As the Head of Risk & Vulnerable Customer Strategy, you will develop and manage a comprehensive risk strategy that balances commercial benefits, legislative compliance, and minimised risk exposure across the organisation’s full portfolio.
This is a chance to lead a function that has a real impact—from shaping risk frameworks to ensuring vulnerable customers receive the support they need. You will work in a dynamic environment, collaborate with senior leaders, and make meaningful contributions to our organisational success.
You will assemble and lead a highly skilled and motivated risk management, control, and governance function to meet operational needs while ensuring specialist risk management capabilities significantly influence commercial strategy.
In addition, you will:
* Drive the Vulnerable Customer Strategy and ensure it remains best-in-class.
* Establish and lead a Centre of Excellence (CoE) that enhances capability and aligns efforts across the business through a structured, programmatic approach.
* Influence Executive and Senior Management, embedding simple, repeatable processes to deliver consistently strong customer outcomes.
* Leverage strategic charitable partnerships, ensuring effective collaboration and impact.
* Act as a subject matter expert, leading capability-building efforts across the organisation.
Here's what we’re looking for:
* Extensive experience in risk management, governance, and commercial strategy.
* A proven track record in developing and embedding customer-focused strategies, particularly for vulnerable customers.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to build and manage a high-performing team.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly at the Executive and Senior Management level.
* A results-driven approach with the ability to balance commercial objectives and customer outcomes.
