JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Head of IT, you will cover the day shift (11:00 – 19:00 Mon-Fri) and be responsible for managing and maintaining server and network infrastructure as well as handling more in-depth support issues and those which have been escalated by the 1st line engineers.
There will also be an element of project work as the business continues to grow and change and new IT requirements come to light.
Weekend on-call cover will be required and will be on a two-week alternating rota.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Provide timely and effective 2nd line support to customers/users by investigating and resolving desktop, server and networking problems whilst meeting the required business SLAs.
* Escalating incidents to other technical staff as appropriate.
* Monitoring, receiving and responding to relevant Service Desk incidents and service requests.
* Contribute to the administration, maintenance and development of IT systems.
* Undertaking requests and projects where possible and contribute to advancement of technology within the company.
* Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the asset register.
* To undertake other duties and additional responsibilities as determined by the IT Manager.
HEALTH & SAFETY:
* To ensure you follow safe working practices.
* To promptly report all accidents and incidents to your line manager.
* To assist in accident investigations as necessary.
* To ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained.
* To adhere to relevant site rules, QEHS policies and procedures including quality procedures, HACCP, safe systems of work and environmental controls.
COMMUNICATION:
* To have good communication skills and ability to liaise verbally confidently with employees and Management.
* To listen carefully to instructions.
* To keep your Manager up to date with any work issues that may affect deadlines.
FLEXIBILITY AND AD-HOC:
* To be flexible to work on a variety of duties and locations as required.
* To carry out any other task that is reasonable and within your skill set as business needs dictate.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE:
* Full clean UK driving license (Use of company pool car will be required to travel to remote sites).
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a 2nd line IT role.
* Experience provisioning and supporting Windows servers (Min 3 yrs).
* Exchange Server experience (Min 3 yrs).
* Active Directory experience (Min 3 yrs).
* Group Policy experience (Min 3 yrs).
* Networking experience (Min 3 yrs).
* Mobile device management experience (iOS and Android).
* Experience implementing and maintaining backup solutions.
* Experience supporting Hyper-V Failover Clusters.
* Experience supporting Office 365.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Ability to work to extremely tight deadlines.
* Ability to analyse issues and report on root causes.
