Job summary As a Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician - Interface and Formulary, you will be supporting the production, management and implementation of the Norfolk and Waveney formulary, the introduction of new medicines and ensuring best value use of medicines within the Integrated Care System. The role is based within the Interface and Formulary team working with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The team is friendly and supportive and you will also have a role in helping to shape the workplan and higher priorities of the team. The Interface and Formulary team is based within the wider Medicines Optimisation team and there will be additional opportunities to learn and collaborate with other members of the team. The role is largely home-based or working in the ICB Office at County Hall. There is no weekend or bank holiday working in this role and flexible working patterns can be considered. We are interested to receive applications for both full and part-time working with a minimum of 18.75hours. The role would be ideal for pharmacy technicians who have experience of working in Primary or Secondary Care but applications are welcomed from all sectors of practice. Main duties of the job The role of Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician - Interface and Formulary involves contacts with multiple partners within the Integrated Care System (ICS) including GP practices, Hospital and Community Trusts - involving both clinical and non-clinical staff. You will play a crucial role in the maintenance of a system wide medicines formulary, work on defined projects to drive innovation and support cost-effective, evidence-based use of medicines. The post holder will build trusted professional relationships as a key part of the role to support the introduction of new medicines, robust formulary management and the production, management and implementation of local guidelines to deliver medicines optimisation initiatives. You will use knowledge of publications developed by NICE or NHS England such as Technology Appraisals, clinical guidelines, low priority prescribing, and self-care and data from multiple sources to identify and make positive changes to prescribing across the Interface. Matrix working within the Medicines Optimisation team to answer medicines queries by providing key advice on medicines to colleagues across the ICS. The role is varied and may also involve developing policies, training and facilitating communication and learning across the Interface to support the delivery of best value use of medicines for the Norfolk and Waveney population.
