Machine Operative Humdinger, Sherburn in Elmet, LS25 Humdinger chocolate and snacking factory in Sherburn in Elmet has multiple permanent job opportunities for hard working individuals to join our production team. In these roles, you will be trained to set up, operate and monitor a range of food packing machinery, and oversee workers on the packing lines. If you have prior factory experience that’s a bonus, but if not, an interest in mechanics and how things work could be suitable for these roles, as full training will be provided. Position type : Full-time, Permanent Hours : 40 Breaks :1 x 30-minute break, 2 x 15-minute breaks Pay range : (increase with skilled gained) Grade 1 Pay Rate: £11.97 /hour (Entry pay) (£24,897.60 equivalent) Grade 2 Pay Rate: £12.17 Grade 3 Pay Rate: £13.13 Shift Pattern 12-hour days and nights. No weekend work, barring one Sunday 6pm start every 3 weeks You will work the below pattern: Week 1: Sunday to Tuesday 18:00 - 06:00 (3 nights followed by 5 days off) Week 2: Monday to Tuesday 06:00 - 18:00 & Wednesday to Thursday 18:00 - 06:00 (2 days followed by 2 nights followed by 5 days off) Week 3: Wednesday to Friday 06:00 - 18:00 (followed by 1 day off, then start again on week 1) Our shift pattern offers full time, regular working hours with no weekend work and plenty of time off in between your shifts. Operate machinery such as Bagging, Bulking, Foiling, and Netting (full training provided). Ensure products are packed to the highest quality and food safety standards. Monitor machinery performance, identify issues, and report breakdowns to the engineering team. Supervising a small team of packing operatives. Perform manual handling tasks. Adhere to safe work systems and procedures. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly hygiene tasks according to established cleaning schedules and standards following a good manufacturing practices schedule. Complete CCP (Critical Control Point) checks within the required timeframes. Ensure quality and integrity are maintained throughout the production process by following customer specifications. Adherence to the packing plan. Work independently on the packing line with the support of the technical and engineering teams. Receive training in Level 2 Food Safety, Allergen Awareness, and various other certifications in your first few weeks. Essential Good verbal and written communication skills Experience of training others/coaching and the ability to confirm understanding when managing staff Ability to work under pressure Ability to work within a team Ability to work to targets Flexibility to work within other areas of the business as required Machine Operative experience Desirable Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification (or equivalent) Level 2 Health and Safety qualification (or equivalent) 224 hours of annual leave.
