Responsibilities:
* Design and develop piping systems for nuclear facilities, including reactor coolant systems, safety-related piping, and auxiliary systems, in accordance with project requirements, codes, and standards.
* Perform piping stress analysis using industry-standard software tools to ensure piping components and supports can withstand thermal, pressure, and seismic loads during normal and transient operating conditions.
* Conduct hydraulic analysis to determine fluid flow rates, pressure drops, and system performance parameters, and optimise piping layouts for efficiency and safety.
* Specify piping materials, components, and fabrication methods suitable for nuclear applications, considering factors such as material compatibility, corrosion resistance, and radiation tolerance.
* Collaborate with structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate piping design considerations into overall facility design plans and ensure compatibility with structural and equipment layouts.
* Prepare detailed piping drawings, isometric diagrams, and construction specifications for bid packages and fabrication, and review vendor submittals and shop drawings for compliance with design requirements.
* Conduct site inspections, field surveys, and walkdowns to verify piping installations, identify design conflicts or discrepancies, and resolve construction issues during facility construction and commissioning.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
* Specialised knowledge and experience in piping engineering for nuclear facilities, including familiarity with codes and standards.
* Proficiency in piping design and analysis software tools such as Caesar II, AutoPIPE, PIPESTRESS, or similar programs.
* Strong analytical skills, with the ability to perform piping stress analysis, hydraulic calculations, and design evaluations.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effectively conveying technical information to diverse stakeholders.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Experience with nuclear plant design, construction, or operation is advantageous.
