IES are a fast-growing contractor within the utility sector with a number of major clients across five business divisions. We work on multi-discipline projects within engineering, civils, and construction works across the UK.
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Planner to join our dynamic team in St Fergus Gas terminal. In this key role, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of robust project plans, ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of projects deliverable with the project team, track change and feeding this back to the commercial and project team.
Due to the works evolving on a daily bases, it is critical that there is a high presence on site offering support and managing change in collaboration with the project manager and Quantity Surveyor, supplying impact programmes, supporting compensation events and project manager instructions.
The role will have direct links to the commercial function based in Manchester with an opportunity to develop and grow into a regional role.

Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using industry-standard planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
* Analyse project scope, identify critical path activities, and assess potential risks and delays.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to gather and integrate project data.
* Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and identify and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Proactively identify and mitigate potential schedule risks and delays.
* Prepare and present regular project progress reports to stakeholders.
* Ensure compliance with company planning procedures and industry best practices.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the planning department.
* Prepare, issue and update a four week look ahead to enable proficient planning, procurement and document requirements.
* Update project progress weekly to enable cost recovery and reduce WIP
* Monitor, update and issue version control of clause 32 programme as per the contract.
* Resource profile and identify early opportunities to reduce prelims and operational costs.
* Cost load programme down to level 3 to track people, plant costs against activities.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Planner within the construction or utilities sector.
* Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
* Proficiency in the use of planning software (Primavera P6 preferred).
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
* A proactive and solution-oriented approach to work.
* Education / Experience
* Educated to at least HNC/HND level, or equivalent experience
* Hold the APM PMQ (desirable)
* NEC3 Contract Training / Qualification (desirable)
