IT Development & Data Solutions Manager

We are recruiting for a highly skilled IT Development & Data Solutions Manager to join Team Swift!
We are looking for somebody who has a broad range of technical competency who is able to manage and deliver on multiple complex deliverables showcasing strong organisation and cross-team collaboration skills. The successful candidate would be responsible for leading data and application development projects and the full life cycle of in-house developed solutions and business intelligence/analytics for the organisation. This role will be expected to be technically hands-on in the delivery and support of business solutions, and will also manage a team of full stack integration developers and data analysts and developers.
This newly created position will play a pivotal, hands-on role in the modernisation of Swift’s IT estate; drawing on proven technical skills and experience to architect, develop and sustain a number of major improvement initiatives. These include the roll-out of enterprise data analytics and data solutions across the organisation, supporting a strategic shift towards increased cloud SaaS, IaaS and PaaS use and fully integrating key internal applications with Swift’s new ERP solution (MS Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain).
The IT Development and Data Solutions Manager will have experience of leveraging key technologies in the Microsoft stack, such as SQL Server, Azure, Power BI / Power Platform, DevOps, D365 and Copilot, alongside a range of contemporary development languages and approaches, to drive operational efficiency, support data-driven strategic decision-making, and enhance the company’s competitive advantage in the sector. This role will be business facing, collaborating closely with the organisation to understand business requirements and identify where tailored solutions and analytics would drive benefit. They will also empower the team to deliver modernised and optimised solutions, support the business’s strategic initiatives, and seek opportunities to enhance overall business performance.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, mentor and develop a small team of permanent and contract analysts and developers.
* Use SQL for data extraction, transformation and loading processes.
* Manage end to end life-cycle of IT solution and data analytics development.
* Develop and execute appropriate areas of the IT strategy in alignment with the Company's objectives.
* Ensure the Company complies with current regulations, professional standards, policies, procedures and legislation.
* Ensure data accuracy, integrity, availability, security and maintainability by implementing best practices in database management, cloud computing, and data governance.
* Play a hands-on technical leadership role in the design, development, support and maintenance of custom IT solutions and integrations to support as needed.
* Ensure in-house developments are robust, scale-able, secure and maintainable, collaborating with the IT infrastructure and operations.
* Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in development and data solutions.
* Be an advocate for increasing levels of data literacy across the organisation, seeking opportunities to enhance data access, end-user training, self service and best practice sharing.
* Regularly review and assess the effectiveness of existing solutions, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
* Proactively drive change in conjunction with peers through effective project management and collaborative working.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field. Masters degree or recent relevant professional qualifications including General Management is advantageous.
* Proven experience in a technical people management role.
* Experience in managing complex team workloads and providing robust delivery estimates and options.
* Experience in database development, querying, optimisation and administration including data warehousing and cloud database development (Ideally SQL Server and Azure cloud services).
* Experience in use of low code/no code solutions to automate workflows and processes.
* Understanding of machine learning and AI concepts, their opportunities and application is advantageous.
* Excellent knowledge of data governance practices and data privacy regulations as well as experience in ensuring compliance with data security and privacy standards.
* Strong business acumen and commercial awareness.
* Ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlines whilst working on multiple projects.
* Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
