Why this job matters
The role is broad in terms of the breadth of assignments that it is designed to cover: At entry level it could cover the delivery of moderately large, complex projects. However, at other end of the scale it could cover the delivery of large, complex Project(s), programmes or project portfolios. The Technical Delivery Specialist executes a range of workstreams in delivering the implementation of technical solutions from initial scope to delivery, ensuring adherence to roadmap, time and budget constraints.
The nature of delivery will be focused Platform solutions, IT Service Management (ITSM), Billing systems, and internally developed applications. It is expected that the value of delivery activity (i.e. PS Resource, equipment etc.) could be between £5 Million and £20 Million but this should not be viewed as the deciding dimension of this role versus others.
You will directly engage with key stakeholders and be seen as leading significant, highly visible, and recognisable deliveries. In this respect what you and your virtual delivery team and the behaviours the collective team exhibit will shape customer experience. As a leader in the professional community of Project and Programme Managers you will be expected to promote and shape project management methods and tools. In addition, you will be expected to ensure that your team conforms with governance and standards.
What you’ll be doing
* Accountable for leading the delivery of project(s), programme or portfolio that are large, complex and represent significant benefit or risk to our customers and to BT. The delivery will be highly visible and recognisable.
* Accountable for coordinating delivery activities which consists of a mixture of dedicated and shared resources, this will potentially include other internal specialists and external third parties.
* Accountable for the full cycle delivery of commercial outcomes for technology developments and solutions.
* Identifies opportunities to resolve risks and issues relating to delivery and any impacts on related components or teams.
* Monitors all actions and activities, from scope to delivery, to ensure adherence to technical roadmaps, time and budget constraints.
* Accountable for the completion of acceptance into service activities
* Implements ways to improve team, process and service performance and suggest and implement changes to how the team operates.
* Contributes to the development of innovative approaches and tools aimed at furthering BT Group's capabilities and alignment to BT strategy.
* Implements the resolution of technical delivery problems and ensuring all parties involved are engaged in resolutions.
* Champions, continuously develops and shares with team knowledge on emerging trends and changes in Technical Delivery.
* Accountable for customer satisfaction associated with delivery, ensuring that the solution (and other deliverables) is of the right quality, value for money and accepted by the customer.
* Accountable for ensure scope has been clearly defined and identifying and managing changes in scope – ensuring the appropriate governance is applied.
* Manages project risk for BT and customers with an ability to use and adapt recognized project management methods and processes depending on elements of the risk profile and governance needs.
* Provide direction to the team on requirements, scope, timescale, cost constraints and quality expectations.
* Accountable for ensuring that defined methodologies, processes, and tools are consistently applied across the projects in scope.
The skills you'll need
* Experience as a Project Manager, delivering complex solutions. The value of delivery (Not contract) will typically have been between £5 Million and £20 Million but this should not be viewed as the deciding dimension of this role versus others.
* Experience of delivering a broad range of IT and Service Mgmt tool sets. Ideally this should be in a range of industry sectors.
* Highly developed project management skills with experience of delivering technical solutions to Enterprise customers.
* Experience in both waterfall lifecycle and agile delivery.
* Expected to have attained an advanced project management qualification – Prince 2 Practitioner, MSP, APM RPP etc
* Great stakeholder management skills. Ability to work with multiple internal and external partners to deliver great outcomes for our customers and business.
* Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
* Commercially and financially astute and able to seize opportunities to improve profit or new business.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to create a culture of high performance.
* Ability to work with complete independence and autonomy.
