We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated registered pharmacist to join our fantastic team at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust on the outskirts of Skipton. You will have the opportunity to work in hospital pharmacy and will be funded to undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy. We look to develop our pharmacists, with the prospects of progressing from band 6 to band 7 clinical pharmacists.
The pharmacy service at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust has a high profile and is well integrated into multi-disciplinary teams, providing a much valued contribution to patient care. This is an exciting time for our Pharmacy Department as we continue to improve and develop our clinical pharmacy service.

Main duties of the job
This pharmacist post will contribute to our clinical pharmacy service supporting medical and surgical wards as well as the hospital dispensary and aseptic unit. The successful candidates will be able to further develop their clinical and personal skills through on-call and late shift work in the dispensary. There will be opportunities to gain experience in medicines information, procurement, anticoagulation clinics as well as being actively involved in our learning at lunch teaching sessions.

You must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The post holder will need to meet deadlines, be adaptable and have the ability to exercise initiative, operate within procedural guidelines and prioritise workloads in response to changing demands.
The post holder is expected to promote the highest standards of professional practice, Trust Policies and Procedures, whilst observing principles of clinical governance, and the "Standards of Conduct, Ethics and Performance" issued by the General Pharmaceutical Council.
In pursuing these duties, the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution.
Job responsibilities
1. Provide professional and legal clinical supervision in the dispensary as allocated, including clinical and legal verification of prescriptions, labelling and dispensing, dealing with general and clinical enquiries, accuracy checking of prescriptions, and complying with legal requirements relating to the purchase, supply, and distribution of drugs.
2. Provide a clinical service to the wards and departments in accordance with professional, departmental and Trust policies, including taking drug histories, screening patients for pharmaceutical care issues, reviewing medication, and educating patients about their drug therapy.
3. Participate in the Pharmacy-led outpatient warfarin clinics.
4. Participate in on-call, weekend and bank holiday rotas.
5. Participate in the provision of Technical and Aseptic services to the Trust.
6. Help in the distribution of medicines to patients, wards and departments and assist in maintaining systems for the control of drugs.
7. Comply with Health and Safety legislation and ensure safe working practices.
8. Commit to lifelong learning and contribute to a personal development portfolio.
9. Participate in pharmacy practice research, quality and/or clinical audit projects.
10. Participate in the department and Trust medication error reporting systems.
11. Maintain the security of the department and comply with Trust policies.
12. Provide a professional and courteous service to all staff and patients using the pharmacy service.
13. Update professional awareness and carry out other duties deemed appropriate to the grade of the post.
14. Maintain close working links with other pharmacy staff.
15. Comply with the Professional code of ethics and data protection act.
16. Provide pharmacy services to external customers.
17. Comply with Trust policies relating to Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
18. Manoeuvre light goods and equipment in accordance with manual handling regulations.
19. Maintain and process all information concerning patients, staff, and contractors confidentially.
20. Work weekends/bank holidays as per service needs.
21. Ensure patient safety remains the focus of pharmacy services.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Master's degree in Pharmacy (MPharm).
* Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) or in progress of becoming a qualified pharmacist.
* Member of the RPS.
* Member of the UKCPA.
Experience
* Commitment and evidence of professional updating and formal continuous professional development (CPD).
* Experience of working in a hospital environment.
