Band 4 Medical Secretary - Diabetes & Endocrinology

The Diabetes & Endocrinology Team have an opportunity for an experienced medical secretary to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working for 2-3 consultants and their resident doctors, as well as covering for colleagues at times of leave or sickness. You must be able to work well in conjunction with your colleagues to provide an efficient service to the Department / medics.
You will offer a comprehensive administration service and preferably have experience on the UHB IT operating systems. Proficiency in word and outlook and be efficient / experienced in the taking and transcribing minutes of meetings is an essential requirement.
This is a full time, 37.5 hour per week post.
Only candidates with relevant previous medical experience will be shortlisted.
Main duties of the job
To transcribe from digital audio, letters, reports and minutes in a timely manner
Request, report back to medics and chase tests as required
To ensure organisation of meetings, preparation of agendas and taking of minutes
Transcribe formal minutes of meetings, case conferences as required
To organise meetings and assume responsibility for the daily management of the diaries
To provide and receive complex information on a daily basis
To exercise initiative and judgement based on acquired knowledge and experience
To undertake validation of data and provide assurance
To provide a point of contact for stakeholders and service users ensuring that any language or other communication barriers are overcome
Knowledge and use of various Microsoft Office Software programmes including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access (database) to produce letters, presentations, reports and other relevant correspondence
To develop and maintain an efficient individual filing system to include correspondence, reports, documentation relevant to the department

Qualifications
* *Good General Education (eg. GCSE English and Maths A-C) GCSE Level 9-4
* *Business Administration NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment
* *AMSPAR Certificate/equivalent qualification or equivalent knowledge of medical terminology
* *Working knowledge of medical terminology
Experience
* *Experience of working as a Medical Secretary
* *Experience of dealing with the Public/Customer service experience
* *Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook)
* *Experience of using IT systems
