The Client
Our client, one of the leading Approved Inspectors, offers building control services tailored to client requirements. They provide solutions when you want them, where you want them, from design phase to completion.
The Role
1. You will lead the Building Control Division with coverage across Yorkshire, North East, and North West.
2. Lead on major commercial and domestic projects and be responsible for the team of RBIs and administrators. Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
3. Support and build relationships with clients by providing proactive building regulations plan checks and site inspections on a diverse range of projects.
4. Work in accordance with company policy and guidelines to ensure a comprehensive customer-focused Building Control Service to clients and businesses, following guidance outlined by the BSR.
5. Responsible for the learning and development of direct reports. Lead, coach, and mentor RBIs and admin team members, supporting their professional development and promoting company culture.
6. Work closely with the CPO to ensure the recruitment and retention of well-motivated, trained, and developed staff.
7. Collaborate with the COO to ensure the team is delivering against company objectives.
8. Carry out internal audits to ensure procedures are compliant with BSR standards.
9. Ensure up-to-date OSRs are in place and adhered to.
10. Identify opportunities to increase efficiencies and improve processes.
The Person
1. A fully qualified (Classification 3G/3H and Technical 4), experienced building control surveyor at a senior or principal level with experience in commercial and domestic projects.
2. Possession of a recognised professional qualification giving membership of an appropriate body (RICS, CABE).
3. Experience of working in a Building Control office in a senior role.
4. Thorough knowledge of Building Regulations and related legislation.
5. Knowledge and understanding of IT systems.
6. Ability to demonstrate expert building control knowledge in Structural engineering, Fire Safety, Access and facilities for disabled persons, and Building Services.
7. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
8. Ability to coach, mentor, and develop junior staff.
9. Ability to investigate relevant issues according to experience and knowledge, producing competent written and verbal briefings on complex issues to a variety of audiences.
10. Ability to carry out site inspections, adhering to Corporate and Industry Health and Safety policy and guidelines.
11. Previous knowledge and experience of implementing OSRs.
12. Up-to-date knowledge of BSR standards and requirements.
13. Full UK driving licence.
