We are seeking to employ Physiotherapy and/or Sports Therapy Graduates for the 2025-2026 academic year to contribute to our medical, sports, and boarding programmes. A graduate therapist year in the sports department of Millfield School will provide an unrivalled opportunity to develop your skills in one of the UK’s leading Independent Schools for boys and girls, aged 2-18 years.
Millfield is not like other schools and never has been. Founded in 1935, Millfield’s vision is to be the world leader for the development of children. There are over 1,300 students at the senior school (year 9 to U6) and a further 450 students at the neighbouring Prep School. Millfield’s size brings fantastic opportunity, and the facilities are unmatched in the UK: an Olympic-sized swimming pool, state of the art hockey/rugby/football pitches, golf courses, indoor centres for tennis, golf, cricket, and an equestrian centre; concert hall, recording studio, theatre, art gallery, hi-tech Science block and outstanding teaching facilities; and high-quality boarding accommodation.
We are seeking Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy Graduates to be involved in all aspects of the assessment, design, and delivery of rehabilitation programmes and contributing to the holistic recovery and development of our student athletes. Therapy graduates who live on site will also be expected to contribute to our boarding programme.
Therapy graduates will have the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills gained from an Undergraduate or Master's degree. Successful candidates should be confident, reliable and have good interpersonal skills as well as showing a willingness to be involved in all areas of school life. Physiotherapy candidates should hold membership of the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and Chartered Society of Physiotherapists. Sports Therapists must be a member of British Association of Sports Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT) or Society of Sports Therapists with full indemnity insurance to practice within the U.K.
The post runs for a full academic year from September through June, with breaks for school holidays. Graduates will also be expected to work 2 weeks during non-term time which typically occurs during late August to contribute to pre-school training camps.
There is a formal personal development programme provided as part of the placement opportunity which is overseen by the Head of Student Athlete Support and many expert staff within the department. This has a value more than £2,500.
