Overview
NextGen are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teacher for one of our partnership schools based in Harrogate, easily accessible from North Leeds, Skipton, York, and Keighley.
We are looking for a Qualified Teacher with QTs who is seeking to make a difference teaching students with Social and Emotional Mental Health needs. The majority of the students at this school live with anxiety, and the school is looking for a Primary Teacher who is passionate about working with SEMH learners or a SEMH Specialist Teacher seeking a new challenge.
This role is a temporary to permanent contract through NextGen Teachers, starting in January/February 2025.
Teachers applying for this position must have access to a car in order to get to the school and must be comfortable with therapy dogs and farm animals.
Responsibilities
* Provide individualized support to children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
* Collaborate with parents and other professionals to create tailored educational plans that promote learning and development.
* Implement strategies to enhance communication skills among children, adapting techniques to suit individual needs.
* Monitor and document the progress of each child, providing feedback to parents and team members regularly.
* Create a safe and inclusive environment that encourages exploration and learning through play.
Experience
* Proven experience in special education or related fields is essential.
* Experience working with children diagnosed with autism or other developmental disorders is an advantage.
* Strong communication skills are necessary for effectively interacting with children, parents, and colleagues.
* A passion for educating and supporting children in their growth and development is crucial for success in this role.
* Familiarity with Teach Teach training and willingness to complete the course.
