Job Purpose:
To provide care and inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the setting and to maintain a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment. You'll work with your team to create an enabling environment where young children are nurtured and their development can flourish. We do planning in the moment which involves ensuring all environments are enabling environments, which provide the right amount of challenge, with lots of open ended opportunities and follow children's interests. Our skilled practitioners then have the role of observing child led play and then consider how they can "teach" the children to further on their learning in that moment based on what they are seeing. We use eyLog, an online learning journey, for documenting children's progress.
About Great Wood Farm:
Great Wood has been awarded Outstanding by Ofsted in both 2010 and 2014. We care for and educate children aged from 6 weeks to 14 years, following the core Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, incorporating learning in an outdoor environment where free play, fresh air, exposure to the natural world and physical activity are an integral part of learning. Our outdoors ethos is a main feature within the nursery, where staff are encouraged to get out and about with the children, whether it be for a morning in the woods or in the garden visiting the animals. We have pushchairs and a walking wagon enabling even our youngest of children to have access out and about on the farm and in the woods. In September 2017 we moved into a new purpose built building and are continuing developing environments in and out of the nursery. More information can be found on our website at
