We have an excellent reputation as an ED which is committed to the development, education and training of Drs, Nurses and Allied Health Professions.
We host EM, ACCS, GPVTS & F2/1 trainees. In addition, we are also a training site for Medical Students from St George's and Imperial Medical Schools as well as Physician Associate students.
Main duties of the job
The principal duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients.
* To at all times, comply with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice' as amended or substituted from time to time.
* To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
* To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your Clinical Director.
* To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
* On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's corporate Induction (or arranged Consultant Induction).
* To participate in the Trust's Statutory & Mandatory training programme.
* To be responsible for the Clinical Management of in and out patients under your care.
About us
The Emergency Medicine service is part of the Medicine Division which also includes the acute medical assessment hubs, Ambulatory care units, medical wards and specialty outpatients. Both EDs are currently developing a combined Same Day Emergency Care service at the front door of the department combining medicine and emergency medicine pathways - this is an innovative project that will be continuing for several months.
We are also one of the pilot sites for NHS 111 direct booking and streaming and re-direction process.

Qualifications and Training
* Hold a medical qualification or qualification registered with the GMC
* Entry onto the Specialist Register for GMC or be within six months of obtaining CCT
* FRCEM
Clinical Experience
* High standard of clinical skill and expertise in the specialty
* Able to contribute to the full range of skills required for the on-call rota for the specialty
* Diploma in Tropical Medicine
* ALS, APLS or ATLS provider
Management & Administrative Experience
* Audit/research experience
* Experience of quality improvement projects involving EPR/Cerner
* Ability to contribute to change management
Teaching Experience
* Experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees
* Ability to teach clinical skills
* ALS, APLS or ATLS certified instructor
Research Experience
* Ability to apply research findings to clinical problems
* Ability to critically review research
Language
* Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to the appropriate standard necessary to fulfil the job requirements
