Person Specification
Training & Qualifications
Essential Criteria
1. Completed (or due to complete) post-graduate doctoral level DClinPsy in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS.
2. Current HCPC registration for Clinical Psychologist (or eligibility to qualify for registration post-training).
3. Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS/HCPC.
Desirable Criteria
1. Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
2. Training in the supervision of other psychological professionals.
Experience
Essential Criteria
1. Experience of teaching/training.
2. Knowledge of the theory and clinical practice of evidence-based psychological therapies.
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience of working in an area of adult and/or paediatric clinical health psychology.
2. Experience of working in an acute hospital setting.
3. Experience of assessing trauma reactions and delivering evidence-based trauma-focused interventions.
4. Experience of representing clinical psychology within multidisciplinary teams.
5. Experience of delivering clinical supervision.
Communication and Relationship Skills
Essential Criteria
1. Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers, and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
2. Ability to develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional, and academic settings.
3. Ability to identify, provide and promote appropriate means of support to carers and staff exposed to distressing situations.
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
2. Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
Analytical and Judgement Skills
Essential Criteria
1. Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention, and management.
2. Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including both quantitative and qualitative methods.
Desirable Criteria
1. Experience in conducting clinical research.
Planning and Organisation Skills
Essential Criteria
1. Ability to identify, and employ, as appropriate, clinical governance mechanisms for the support and maintenance of clinical practice.
2. Excellent planning, time management, and organisational skills.
Physical Skills and Other
Essential Criteria
1. Ability to sit for prolonged time periods during psychological assessments/therapy sessions.
2. Ability to travel between the hospital campuses within the day.

1. Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust's behavioural standards.
Other Requirements Specific to the Role
Essential Criteria
1. Be able to work in acute hospital ward environments, with people with burns and other injuries that are often visible.
