Distribution Maintenance are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
The role sits within the Water Resources team to deliver and support water resource planning and drought planning activities. The role will support water resource and drought planning activities (both business as usual and in drought) to meet company, regional, and national water supply challenges.
The role of the drought planner is to co-ordinate and provide specialist/technical input.
Where you fit in:
As our Drought Planner, you will:
* Work with colleagues and external partners to successfully deliver the drought planning commitments and the Water Resource Management Plan and maintain drought preparedness in line with the Drought Plan.
* Use the water resources model to predict reservoir stocks and risk of drought restrictions under dry weather / drought conditions to inform the business of future risks and meet regulatory requirements.
* Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, regulators, and, where relevant, other external stakeholders.
* Contribute to the delivery of YW’s WRMP and Drought Plan and the associated technical documents and annual reviews.
* Identify and develop drought options with consultant support, including cross business working in particular with Service Delivery, BRIT, and Asset Planning to understand future potential options.
* When required, the role will contribute to the implementation of the Drought Plan and related company escalation processes.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
* Proficient in the use of water resource modelling software such as PyWR (desirable – to be developed in role).
* Membership of appropriate professional body (e.g. IEMA, CIWEM) (desirable – to be developed in role).
* Knowledge of water resource and drought planning legislation and ability to interpret and articulate business implications.
