Subject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for an OF3 to serve as the Cryptologic Services for Defence (CSD) Operations Officer at MOD Corsham on FTRS(LC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of Nov 24.
The SO2 Ops Officer is pivotal in the provision, sustainability, resilience and development of Cryptologic Services for Defence (CSD).
CSD SO2 Operations Officer is responsible to Hd CSD for the successful delivery of CSD projects both current and future. He/she is ultimately to support the provision of cryptographic capability in support of Defence through the provisioning and management of cryptographic keying material and equipment. CSD provides a wealth of transferable executive professional development including programme and project management.
Responsibilities
1. Act as the Operations Officer, 2I/C and Unit Security Officer (USO) supporting CSD and Hd CSD.
2. Form part of the Senior Leadership Team with associated leadership and management responsibilities.
3. Advise planning activities/CIWGs to determine how current/future Cryptographic services will be incorporated into CSD and the wider Defence.
4. Lead on the continual improvement of the CSD Business Continuity Plan and the development of the alternate site.
5. Contribute to the proactive management of internal business change.
6. Develop and contribute to appropriate cryptographic policy in support of JCKP, with NCSC, UK STRATCOM, FLCs, other users and stakeholders internal and external.
7. Coordinate activity with Team Leads to facilitate a resolution to problems/issues.
8. Attend and chair meetings on behalf and in the absence of Hd CSD.
9. Brief regularly at 1* - 2* level in UK StratCom Defence Digital and MOD on key work streams and their implications for UK StratCom.
10. Be prepared to support the wider UK StratCom CSD outputs as the requirement and priorities dictate.
11. Organise and attend meetings to enhance and contribute to the situational awareness of Hd CSD.
12. Act as 1/2 RO for all military personnel within CSD and assist all personnel with personal and professional development.
13. Attend courses to become SQEP for your duties.
14. Promote an inclusive culture within area of responsibility, working to increase understanding and engagement through education and initiative.
15. Compliance with all Health and Safety at Work legislation, including the use of safe systems of work, the use of appropriate personal protection equipment and the implementation of COSHH.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake Developed Vetting.
Essential competencies
1. Must be an OF3 of any specialisation. OF2 applicants with a recommendation for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR will be considered.
2. OF4/5 applicants, if successful, will only be paid as and wear the rank of OF3.
3. Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.
