Job summary The NHS has committed to do more, so that all autistic people and people with a learning disability can live happier, healthier, longer lives. This includes supporting people who can become highly distressed, and others who may be vulnerable, to have their own home, with or near their families. Our Senior Housing Lead supports colleagues in the wider NHS, Councils and housing providers across Yorkshire and the Humber, to deliver more housing options for autistic people and people with a learning disability. This support spans strategic planning and developing partnerships for delivery. It includes enabling colleagues to utilise the NHS capital programme, in partnership with Senior Housing Leads from across England. It encompasses direct support for commissioners, so they can identify or develop homes for people delayed in hospital. Main duties of the job The post holder will work strategically with local health and social care commissioner and housing partners to support ICBs to understand their local housing needs and communicate these through local market position statements and local housing strategies. The post holder will support the delivery of the national NHS capital programme by c ommunicating available NHS capital resources to both commissioners and housing providers and helping partners to identify opportunities to make best use of NHS capital. The post holder will support individual ICBs by w orking with individual commissioners to help identify suitable accommodation options in particularly challenging cases, where accommodation is a key barrier to discharge of a patient from hospital or where it is a key contributory factor to a potential admission to hospital.
