Sopra Steria's Aerospace Defence and Security Sector are currently recruiting for an experienced, hands on Network Engineer to join an established team in the provision of a secure testing and validation network to support national and international defence and industry. The end goal of he Field Network Engineer will be to provide technical design, implementation, optimisation and network support to a closed WAN. You will proactively manage the fixed points of presence located nationally and internationally in terms of installation standard and maintenance of all devices installed to ensure customer requirements and support are maintained. We are able to consider candidates of various levels as this could be a development opportunity for the right person. To be considered for this role candidates must be SC cleared and eligible for DV clearance in the future as it will become a requirement further down the line. This role will be hybrid based between our office in Salisbury and home. With this being a Field Network Engineer role there will also be travel nationwide to a variety of sites and very occasional international travel. What you'll be doing: Manage and maintain JMNIAN fixed points of presence located throughout the UK and internationally. Through proactive regular site visits ensuring that the installations continue to conform to installation design documentation and regulatory (local and national) guidance. Actively ensure monitoring and optimisation for network assets utilising PTRG network monitoring tool. Configuration of network infrastructure (including but not limited to routers, switches, firewalls and crypto devices). Undertake investigations into network faults, security and performance. Perform operational tasks to resolve incidents/requests in a accordance with priorities. What you'll bring: Good level of knowledge on network technologies. Data cable patching and fault finding.
