About the role
As Head of PE at Hydesville Tower School, you will lead a dynamic and inclusive Physical Education department, inspiring a love of sport and physical activity across all age groups. You will be responsible for delivering a broad and balanced PE curriculum that promotes health, fitness, teamwork, and enjoyment, while also driving excellence in competitive school sport. Working closely with colleagues, you will shape and implement a strategic vision for PE, oversee fixtures and events, and ensure high standards of teaching and coaching across the department. Your leadership will foster a positive sporting culture where every pupil is encouraged to participate, improve, and succeed. You will also manage departmental resources, develop extracurricular opportunities, and play an active role in school life.
This is a full-time, permanent position.
Who we are looking for:
You are an experienced and passionate PE professional with a strong background in both curriculum delivery and sports coaching. You lead by example, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and a genuine commitment to helping young people achieve their personal best. With excellent communication and organisational skills, you thrive in a team environment and have the vision to drive continuous improvement. Experience in leading school sport, alongside expertise in key disciplines such as hockey, cricket, or swimming, would be a strong advantage.
