Our Public Sector Client require a Health & Safety Advisor on a 12 Month Fixed Term contract, based in Belfast. The key purpose of the role is to Support the development and implementation of health & safety best practice arrangements across Northern Ireland. You would be responsible for providing clear, strategic leadership for the continual development of a safe environment for colleagues, contractors, visitors and the public. Responsibilities Supporting corporate H&S strategy work-streams relating to operational and corporate H&S software system development and ongoing health and safety behavioural change programs. Undertaking health and safety inspections across a wide range functions, premises, disciplines and activities. Undertaking function / task specific risk assessments. Supporting the continual development of company health and safety arrangements and policies. Working closely with line managers to implement health and safety policies. Undertaking incident investigations as directed. Supporting the review and development of operational, compliance, behavioural and software related H&S training materials and deliver training as requested. Supporting the development of the H&S management system to facilitate ISO 45001 accreditation. Liaise with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. ESSENTIAL CRITERIA: Must hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent. A minimum of three year's demonstrable experience in a health & safety role within a Construction/ Utility/ Engineering environment, including inspection and auditing experience across a range of disciplines and work activities. As this post requires you to travel on official duty throughout Northern Ireland, you must have a full, current driving license or access to a reliable means of transport, which will enable you to fulfil your responsibilities. This is an operational requirement and is essential to meet business needs. DESIRABLE CRITERIA: Candidates have or are presently working towards a third level qualification in occupational health and safety, such as, the NEBOSH Diploma, or equivalent. Experience of supporting the development and maintenance of OHSAS 18001 and / or ISO 45001 H&S management systems. Applicants are Chartered members of IOSH or working towards Chartered status.
