Job Purpose:
The Finance Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of MRC by leading all aspects of financial management, planning, and analysis. This role is responsible for providing timely and accurate financial information to support strategic decision-making, ensuring robust financial controls, and driving continuous improvement in financial processes.
Combining hands-on financial operations with strategic oversight, the Finance Manager will manage budgeting, forecasting, scenario modelling, cash flow management, and compliance, while also supporting business growth through insightful financial analysis. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role is integral to the leadership team, offering the opportunity to shape the financial strategy of the organisation and implement best practices that enhance efficiency, profitability, and informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
* Scenario Modelling: Develop and analyse multiple financial scenarios to assess potential risks and opportunities, guiding strategic decision-making.
* Financial Forecasting: Utilise historical data and market trends to create accurate financial forecasts, informing budgeting and long-term planning.
* Budgeting: Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to ensure alignment with organisational objectives.
Management Accounting & Reporting
* Monthly Management Accounts: Prepare and present comprehensive management accounts, providing insights into financial performance.
* KPI Reporting: Develop and monitor key performance indicators, offering analysis to support operational efficiency and profitability.
* Variance Analysis: Conduct detailed variance analyses to identify discrepancies between actuals and forecasts, recommending corrective actions.
Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
* Cash Flow Forecasting: Monitor and project cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs and strategic investments.
* Working Capital Optimisation: Manage receivables, payables, and inventory levels to optimise working capital and support business growth.
Financial Operations & Compliance
* Bookkeeping: Oversee accurate recording of all financial transactions, maintaining up-to-date ledgers.
* Manage Monthly Payroll: Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing in line with agreed terms and statutory requirements.
* Invoicing & Credit Control: Manage the invoicing process and implement effective credit control measures to minimise outstanding debts.
* Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT returns and other statutory filings, adhering to financial regulations.
Systems & Process Improvement
* Financial Systems Management: Utilise accounting software such as Xero and CRM tools like HubSpot to streamline financial processes.
* Process Enhancement: Continuously evaluate and improve financial procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy.
* Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Managing Director and leadership team, providing financial insights to support strategic initiatives.
* Team Development: Potential to build and mentor a finance team as the company grows, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
* Financial Management Experience: Proven track record in a similar role, encompassing financial planning, analysis, and control.
* Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
* Software Expertise: Proficient in Xero, HubSpot, and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to adapt to new financial systems.
* Analytical Acumen: Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
* Strategic Thinking: Adept at aligning financial management with overarching business goals.
