MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensuring all client jobs are sent out on time and in the correct method as per the company agreement with the client and company standards.
Reducing costs within the warehouse where possible and keeping temp agency costs to a minimum.
Ensure staffing levels are monitored to each job and costs kept to a minimum; these areas and jobs are not becoming unprofitable due to labour taking longer.
Having Team leaders/Supervisor report directly to Warehouse Assistant Manager and dealing with any issues on an ongoing basis.
Ensure the warehouse is up to Health and Safety standards and random checks are carried out weekly on all areas, ensuring all staff members are working to Health and Safety rules and work wear is being worn.
Ensure the building is following security procedures and keep to security standards.
Manage and motivate three main departments' performance on a day-to-day supervision.
Staff development, personnel issues such as recruitment, training, and discipline of staff to be carried out as and when required.
To oversee the safe receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely dispatch of goods within company turnaround times. Ensure workplace health and safety/Fire requirements are met for the security of the building and stock, and staff safety and the requirements by law.
Plan the arrangement of goods within the warehouse and organise special requirements for certain stock, such as valuable goods or fragile products.
Monitor and improve, where necessary, production, statistics, and wastage.
Ensure communication with any suppliers regarding warehouse issues or any other daily supplier issues as and when required.
Ensuring at all times the warehouse has a responsible person onsite during working hours.
Ensuring and monitoring supervisors and staff performance.
Ensuring all client jobs are processed on the correct services by doing random checks.
Dealing with any issues raised by drivers as and when required.
Ensure the warehouse space is being used to the best we can.
Dealing with other departments on matters and problems and resolving.
KEY RESULTS AREAS
Work activities deal with planning, administration, and general management issues, which will include the day-to-day supervision of staff and overseeing work organized by team leaders/supervisor. Being able to work under pressure and multitask jobs. Being able to make quick decisions for the company's benefit as and when required and save costs in any areas.
* Motivating, organizing, and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met and that all items are dispatched in the correct timescales. No jobs should be left over the company deadlines or delayed at all in any section.
* Monitoring their performance and progress on an ongoing basis.
* Communicating with other departments and staff groups.
* Weekly meetings with all team leaders/supervisor to ensure the company is achieving our customer requirements and where improvements are needed.
* Overseeing stock control and processing orders.
* Ensuring quality, delivery, and budget objectives are met.
* Delivering and fulfilling objectives and directions from the operation's headquarters.
* Keeping stock control systems up to date and planning future capacity requirements due to space issues and ensuring all space is used correctly due to the limited area we have.
* Briefing team leaders/supervisor on the issues for that particular day.
* Monitor the quality of service that our clients are receiving.
* Ensuring the health, safety, cleanliness, Fire, and security of the work environment; and front yard is always clean and tidy.
* Overseeing the planned maintenance of machinery and equipment.
* Dealing with any daily operational issues ensuring all members of staff are carrying out their duties correctly and on time while monitoring labour costs for each department and keeping them to a minimum and avoiding using temp agencies where possible.
* Implementing new procedures in the four areas you will control to make the processes better and ensure all clients' work is packed correctly, sent out on time, and not delayed, ensuring no miss picks happen in any departments.
* Overseeing drivers and ensuring they follow company rules and procedures, dealing with any day-to-day queries with them.
* Ensuring that all areas are completing their daily HS check sheets and handing this paperwork in to you for checking, then this being handed to Mandi Kaur, our HS administrator weekly.
* Ensure all departments are following company procedures within their areas and each area is clean and tidy daily.
* Reducing labour costs where possible and increasing productivity.
* Overseeing as a whole the operation is running to company standards and ensuring jobs are being done within time and on time.
* Provide a weekly check sheet of all machinery checked and cleaned, passing these sheets to the HS Officer weekly.
* Provide accounts a weekly stock count of existing customers' pallets from the relevant section supplied by the supervisor; this must be done weekly.
* Keeping the warehouse clean and tidy and ensuring no HS risks are there, ensuring the areas including all the front yard are kept clean and tidy.
This position will be monitored on the following key results areas:
* Time management of daily responsibilities.
* Timekeeping hours; these to be agreed and discussed due to opening and closing times.
Ability to manage daily work tasks and workforce.
