An exciting opportunity has become available within NRP, for a Specialist Nurse - Non-medical prescriber whose roles and responsibilities will include the following : The successful candidate will work alongside prescribers within the service, to assist with prescribing of Opiate Substitute prescriptions (OST) The successful candidate will be the lead for the coordination and management of community alcohol detox including the prescribing required for safe delivery of the detox, managing, and monitoring the detox period, including physical health of clients requiring detox and ensuring appropriate aftercare plans are in place. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing data and producing reports for commissioners and trust forums. An important part of the role will be that of providing training for the team, new staff and students. The successful candidate will develop links with inpatient detox services, the alcohol care team in hospitals, regarding unplanned emergency detox, and frequent fliers to the department, to consider more appropriate planned interventions. Main duties of the job Essential criteria to have a non medical prescribing qualification The post holder would have relevant knowledge and experience of Addictions. In-depth knowledge and understanding of assessment and treatment of addiction and have a clear understanding of the NICE guidelines. work across both North Tyneside and Northumberland conducting prescribing assessments and offering prescribing support :
* Titrating new patients onto OST medication including Buvidal. Titrating existing patients and continuation prescribing for those already on a prescription
* Prescribing for alcohol detoxifications and relapse prevention
* Signing of prescriptions for key workers in a nurse led service
* To act as a point of contact for any prescribing issues
The post holder would be expected to provide clinical supervision and have leadership skills in order to support the wider teams There would be an expectation of the post holder to support and lead in strategic prescribing reviews held in conjunction with the service user and / or carer and their key worker The post holder would be expected to provide specialist advice and / or training (as appropriate) to external services with regarding to patient care and treatment, GP's, Hospital Admissions etc.
The successful post holder will be expected to demonstrate strong commitment to high quality client care, good organisational skills and be able to demonstrate prioritisation of workload.,
* First Level Nursing Qualification and Registration
* Minimum two years' experience post registration.
* Student Nurse Assessor Safeguarding Children and Adults Training
* Non Medical Prescribing Qualification
* Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in evidence based psychological therapies relevant to Pathway.

Knowledge and Experience Essential
* Knowledge and Experience of substance / alcohol misuse including NICE guidelines for Addictions prescribing
* Experience in management of complex cases
* Collaborative working across agencies and professional disciplines including MDT settings
* Experience of providing clinical supervision to staff
* Teaching / Presentation Skills
