The Recruitment Group is working with a family-run bakery manufacturer based in Coventry. Having started from a small production kitchen, the business has become one of the market leaders in manufacturing baked products and is looking to grow their production team.
Purpose of the Production Manager role:
Our client is looking for a Production Manager to join their team. The role is to manage a team of staff ensuring Health & Safety and Food Safety practices and policies are maintained, making sure that manufacturing is of an acceptable standard, and to coach, train, and develop all staff to the highest standards.
Main duties and responsibilities of a Production Manager:
1. Precise and clear communication between sections across all staff levels, including the Management, Planning, Maintenance, Development, Warehouse, and Technical teams, is critical.
2. Develop staff members through coaching, training, and 1-1 review meetings, identifying where improvements need to be made and encouraging when targets are being achieved.
3. Ensure daily production schedules are completed, highlighting issues before they occur, dealing with situations, and providing solutions to problems. Provide alternatives to fulfill plan attainment.
4. Control and lead shift handover communications between AM and PM shifts.
5. Ensure all documentation is completed correctly, signed, completed, and filed back to the QA team, completing Non-Conformance reports as and when required.
6. Monitor and maintain product quality standards and ensure they are made 'Right 1st Time'
7. Lead 1st launch production of new products, working alongside customers, identifying issues, and providing solutions to problems.
8. Monitor and reduce waste from the section, identifying 5 W's (What, Why, Where, When, Who) and identifying corrective actions and long-term resolutions.
9. Conduct Return to Work, Advisory Notices, Investigations, Absence Review, Staff Training, 1-1 reviews, 14-week reviews, development plans, and Probationary review meetings.
10. Complete Near Miss, Hazard reports and Accident Investigations identifying route causes and actions required to prevent a reoccurrence.
11. Notify Senior Managers of any problem that are likely to pose a Food Safety or Health & Safety risk immediately.
Experience/knowledge requirements for a Production Manager:
12. Food Safety level 3
13. HACCP Level 2 / 3
14. Health & Safety IOSH Managing Safely
15. Previous Experience in a Production Manager Role
16. Proven Experience in Food Production
17. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word)
