First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) is a housing association which owns and manages around 11,500 homes across Oldham and the surrounding areas. FCHO’s mission is to be a trusted provider of quality homes, deliver excellent landlord and support services, and create thriving and independent communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to join FCHO as their new Director of Communities. Reporting to the Executive Director of Customer, the Director of Communities will play a strategic and operational leadership role, ensuring services deliver exceptional outcomes for customers and communities. You will lead a high-performing team that drives neighbourhood sustainability, tenancy support, income management, and customer service excellence, while collaborating with key stakeholders to build resilient and cohesive communities.
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide strategic leadership across key areas, including Tenancy and Neighbourhood Management, Customer Services, Community Services, Income, and Legal Services.
* Lead customer service delivery to enhance relationships and achieve high satisfaction, ensuring services are informed by data, insight, and sector best practices.
* Drive innovative approaches to community resilience and sustainability, advocating for financial inclusion, health, education, and employment opportunities for customers.
* Oversee the organisation’s safeguarding policies, ensuring compliance and promoting safe, inclusive communities.
* Act as a champion for customer engagement, embedding a strong Customer Voice into decision-making processes.
* Optimise income collection strategies to sustain tenancies and manage the financial health of the organisation.
* Ensure all services meet regulatory and legal standards, delivering strong performance in governance, risk management, and compliance.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver impactful outcomes, aligned with FCHO’s strategic priorities.
FCHO are looking to appoint a senior leader who has the following attributes:
* Substantial experience of leading housing/neighbourhood management services.
* Thorough understand of legal and regulatory requirements in relation to housing & neighbourhood management, ASB, and safeguarding.
* A track record of supporting balanced and sustainable communities.
* Extensive experience managing multiple teams in a challenging, target-driven environment.
* A proven track record of delivering excellence in customer service within a regulated and complex setting.
* Strong leadership skills, with a focus on inspiring teams to achieve results and deliver service improvements.
* Knowledge of the social housing sector, including an understanding of regulatory frameworks and the challenges facing the industry.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust internally and externally.
* A degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in social housing.
