Head of Learning Area, Expressive Arts and Technology, and member of the Extended Leadership Team
Salary: Leadership Pay Spine - competitive
Mossbourne Federation is the realisation of Sir Clive Bourne’s dream to provide the children of Hackney with an outstanding education. Built on a formula of high expectations, doing the simple things right, and the belief that all children can succeed, Mossbourne offers an environment where all learners, regardless of ability, benefit from innovative and enlightened approaches to teaching and learning.
We are seeking an outstanding leader and practitioner who is ready to join the Extended Leadership Team and lead this crucial learning area. We encourage applications from teachers with experience leading a department as well as middle leaders who are looking to make the step up to their first head of department role. The ability to teach your subject to Key Stage 5 is an advantage but not a pre-requisite. The successful applicant will be passionate about their subject, have excellent subject knowledge and have the determination and ambition to lead a high-performing team. They will be well organised, willing to go the ‘extra mile’ and will embody the high standards that we expect from all. They will be instrumental in ensuring that outstanding teaching and learning is secured and maintained in the learning area.
Working for the Mossbourne Federation Academy means being part of a community of exceptional practitioners. Colleagues are warm, welcoming, and supportive of each other. As one of the country’s leading federations, staff expectations are high. The Mossbourne Federation engages with, and supports its workforce, thus creating an inspirational working environment which nurtures the development of personal and professional excellence.
We are actively seeking to increase the proportion of our workforce who come from diverse backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from people of Black, Asian, and other minority ethnic descent. Injustice, discrimination, and intolerance go against the core tenets of the Mossbourne ethos. We actively reject discrimination in our academies through continuous review of our working policies and practices across the federation, including at the board level. We are committed to developing and supporting inclusivity, diversity, and anti-racism in every facet of what we do.
The Mossbourne Federation is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
