We are looking to recruit newly qualified or registered Mental Health Nurses to join our well-established and highly skilled multi-disciplinary team at Marlborough House Adolescent Inpatient unit based in Swindon, Wiltshire.
We are a 12-bedded inpatient unit supporting young people with a variety of mental health needs including eating disorders, anxiety, depression, Psychosis, OCD, and emotional dysregulation.

We offer a range of therapies and experiences to assist in each young person’s recovery journey and work in partnership with families and our community colleagues.
As a staff nurse at Marlborough House, you will coordinate and oversee the delivery of care and day-to-day management of the ward. You will also key work a small number of young people on the ward and ensure they have up-to-date risk assessments and care plans that reflect their individual needs.
To be successful in this role, you will be someone who welcomes a challenge and finds it rewarding to support young people through crisis and improve their self-care, coping skills, and overall wellbeing. We are looking for individuals who can reflect on and develop their practice and work well within a diverse team.
Main duties of the job
As a staff nurse at Marlborough House, you will coordinate the nursing team on duty, allocating routine daily activities and overseeing the delivery of a high-quality service to the young people on the ward.
The role will include supporting the delivery of our Eating Disorder Program (EDP) and key working and supervising meals with young people who are on this care pathway. You must have a willingness and ability to role model healthy eating behavior and provide support as trained.
The role will also include supporting the delivery of our Managing Emotions Pathway (MEP) and key working and assisting young people to learn and apply DBT informed skills to help manage distress. Full training and supervision will be provided.
You will take a proactive role in decision-making on the daily care and risk management of young people and will care plan and update risk assessments to ensure their care needs are met.
You will also have the opportunity to co-facilitate small groups and activities on the ward and will be supported to develop and lead in an area of service delivery.
We work closely with families to support and empower them, and the role will involve frequent communication with the families of young people.
The role involves working shifts which may include twilights, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

This role requires a willingness and ability to role model healthy eating behavior with patients and support as trained/required.
Also required is a level of fitness and ability to competently perform Physical Interventions and/or Breakaway techniques (practical and theory) following training.
As part of the interview process, young people on the unit may be giving each applicant a brief tour of the premises and will also be asking a few interview questions they have prepared themselves.
