Our team is seeking a Multi-Site WHS (Workplace, Health & Safety) Manager who will support the AGLI (Amazon Grocery Logistics International) operations in Japan.
This role is responsible to provide technical support, tactical execution, and deliver a strategy for future expansion in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for collaborating with AGLI operations team and the Global WHS team to execute company environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable Country and World Wide regulations. Utilizing risk assessments and compliance evaluations, this individual will lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize risk and implement best practices. You must be an effective communicator and send clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You must possess proficiency in Health and safety regulatory knowledge and demonstrate this expertise when working with teams throughout the Japan Operations. You will need to thrive and deliver a strategy for execution across multiple sites in a fast-paced environment.

Key job responsibilities:
1. Ensure baseline governance processes and risk assessments are in place, created, regularly reviewed and owned by individual site leaders.
2. Ensure high levels of support and guidance are provided to the leadership teams to ensure the low-cost operating model is delivered for customers with lean, adaptable EHS program.
3. Partner with site leaders to ensure they execute safety requirements, track action data entry and completion.
4. Ensure Ops teams are all able to run their safety toolkit process to ensure minimum standards, engage associates and verify compliance.
5. Provide guidance and coaching to site based safety personnel.
6. Ensure site management team are able to assess incidents, root causes and recordability criteria and input information correctly into Austin.
7. Partner with sites and HR to ensure accurate Austin recordkeeping, and compliance with Japan country legal requirements and OSHA reporting standards.
8. Partner with sites and HR to ensure occupational health support is provided as appropriate to the country in which they are operating.
9. Create and facilitate regulatory training to site leadership (via onsite training, KNET, webinars).
10. Support sites to build and maintain a safety culture, including deployment and operation of safety toolkit.
11. Partner with JP, EU and NA Central teams on assessing impact of new processes on safety and environment.
12. Works with specialist partners (such as ERM) as required to identify environmental requirements, coordinate and track execution.
13. Assess Japan operations to ensure both Amazon and local country EHS legal compliance, and report findings to the EU/JP EHS leadership teams.
Minimum Requirements:
1. 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in WHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations experience.
2. Bachelor's degree, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience.
3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics.
4. Experience in Distribution Center or Manufacturing EHS with mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people.
5. Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.
