Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. We are seeking a Quality Engineer (QE), at any level, to provide operational support to the Quality Management Lead (QML) or the Quality Management Team Lead (QMTL) in executing their roles to ensure HPC Project quality requirements are complied with across the full project life cycle (Contract award, Design, Procurement, Manufacture, Test, Shipping, Construction/Installation, Test/Commission and Contract close out). The primary purpose of the QE role is to ensure that the implementation of quality improvements, including Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC), is executed effectively. This may be by performing actions under the instruction of the QMTL/QML in order to monitor or produce deliverables that support the quality strategy of the QML. Especially in matters relating to supply-chain adherence to the contracted quality requirements. Key responsibilities will be: - Support the development of quality (QA/QC) arrangements for deployment across the HPC organisation. - Undertake actions to resolve issues relating to the implementation of quality and to bring about improvements. - Continuous update of Project Quality Control Plans (PQCPs). - Supporting the QML in ensuring deployment of key quality contractual arrangements and provide update reports as required. - Participate actively to regular stakeholder meetings such as the Senior Project Manager (SPM) meeting and area specific meetings such as KANBAN sessions. - Monitor QML deliverables that are identified in the Prerequisites dashboard and to contribute to delivery area specific deliverable monitoring tools such as the KANBAN dashboard. - Progressive review and acceptance of Lifetime Quality Records (LTQR) by contractors and lead implementation of LTQR reviews, where delegated by QML. - Review and monitoring of planned inspection, witness and hold points marked in the supplier Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) / Quality Plans / Follow Up Documents (FUDs) and inspection activities. - Acceptance of relevant manufacturing documentation such as End of Manufacturing Reports (EoMR), End of Construction Status Reports (ECSR) and End of Erection Status Reports (EESR). - An HNC/HND qualification or degree in a relevant science or engineering subject, or equivalent qualification. - Experience in ensuring compliance with international standards such as GSR Part 2 and ISO9001. - Understanding of regulatory environment including the knowledge and understanding of nuclear site licence conditions. - Knowledge of QA/QC codes and standards. - Greater experience within large complex projects, including quality and delivery focus. - Experience working in a quality assurance/control environment within the nuclear industry or other relevant safety critical industry. - Working towards membership of the Chartered Quality Institute & Chartered Quality Professional.
