Health and Safety Manager
Salary: Up to 55K
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm
Benefits: Fleet car provided for any off-site visits

We are currently in a position to welcome a new Health and Safety Manager to the Cousins team, ensuring the highest standards of health and safety across all our operations.
THE ROLE OF THE HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER:
The role will see you working both on-site and in our head office in Rochester, reporting to our Health and Safety Director. The primary responsibilities will include:
1. Providing guidance and on-site support to both our planned works, reactive works, projects, and Electrical engineers on a day-to-day basis, ensuring that health, safety, and environmental legislation/client requirements and company policies are developed and adhered to on-site, including RAMS.
2. Identifying problems or opportunities on-site and taking a proactive approach to these and problem-solving (Audit Site, help prepare Construction Phase Plans (CPP) / Site documents).
3. Promoting a positive health, safety, and environmental culture on-site and when in the office/yard/warehouse.
4. Supporting our projects team and surveyors in technical aspects of health and safety requirements on large-scale jobs.
5. Writing and reviewing all high-level RAMS.
6. Working with our Directors and Managers on all Health and Safety Quality compliance and environmental matters.
7. Assisting management of ISO9001, 14001, and 45001, ensuring non-compliances are addressed and new accreditation obtained/current standards are met.
8. Investigating, recording, and reporting accidents and near misses.
9. Creating and reviewing new policies where appropriate or required to suit the needs of the business.
To be considered for the position, it would be desirable to have:
1. NEBOSH (General and Construction)
2. IOSH Accredited (technical IOSH)
3. APS accreditation – for CDM and principal contractor
4. Experience in the audit and/or accreditation process of ISO.
5. Experience in Construction, Facilities Management, or Facilities Provider industries.
6. Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO9001, and ISO45001.
7. Knowledge of safety contractor, Construction Line, CHAS.
8. Assisting and monitoring PQQ Process/PPE/Training/Fire alarm testing/Asbestos register/Inductions.
9. Reviewing and Developing COSHH/RAMS/CPP’s/Toolbox talks.
10. Updating and maintaining health and Safety Manuals/Equipment registers.
11. Maintaining HAV (Vibration) Register.
12. Experience of environmental matters (i.e., Business carbon footprint).
