Tosca is a global leader in reusable packaging and pooling solutions that service the supply chain end to end. Re-use is the key word as Tosca facilitates moving away from single use packaging towards a circular model of reusable packaging with its robust portfolio of plastic containers, pallets, bins, crates and more. We focus on optimizing the flow of perishables, eliminating waste at every turn – product, packaging, labor and transportation waste. Our reusable plastic products improve the quality of product delivered, create more efficient supply chains, and are more sustainable than single-use packaging.
To strengthen our Tosca-team, we are currently recruiting a motivated Global Sustainability Regulations and Sustainability Manager.
Position Purpose
This role supports the EMEA operations in identifying required improvements to reduce our environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts through the provision of guidance, advice and taking the lead on implementing identified improvements where necessary in order to achieve goals and targets set by the organization and best in class certifications such as achieving Platinum Ecovadis certification and reporting to the UN Global Compact along with completing the required disclosures for such certifications/ reports. It also will strongly support our sales teams through identifying business opportunities forthcoming from identified regulations, providing relevant information to our sales teams on how our products can improve their environmental and sustainability footprints, enable regulatory compliance and reduce costs for use in customer engagements. This includes supporting the development of LifeCycle Assessments.
The role will require strong technical capabilities and experience in implementing sustainability related improvements, and a passion for sustainability through understanding the data needs to support risk and opportunity management associated with the environmental, social and governance impacts of Tosca products and services. The role will require a close working relationship with the Global Regulatory, Sustainability Data and LCA Manager and the Sustainability Analyst as well as the senior leadership across both Regions.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable in a fast-paced business setting focused on innovation, sustainability and change, and be willing to learn, grow, and maintain their expertise as the industry progresses.
This is a full-time role based in Dudley, UK, with travel up to 50% of the time.
Responsibilities
* Provide practical advice, guidance and direct technical support to operations, supply chain, procurement, HR, HSE, manufacturing and any other Tosca department across EMEA to reduce sustainability related impacts and achieve global targets.
* Develop costed budgetary requirements with appropriate ROI with the relevant departments to facilitate improvements and reduce risks.
* Fulfil all necessary reporting disclosures for Ecovadis and the UN Global Compact.
* Provide support for reporting to regulations such as the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, California Bill SB 261 and Tosca’s annual sustainability report.
* Continually educate self on trends and changes related to ESG improvements and best practices and transfer that knowledge to the relevant departments.
* Interact with industry organizations to understand the latest sustainability practices, certifications, and studies.
* Work closely with other sustainability team members to share best practices and thus ensure a uniform improvement in reducing ESG impacts to achieve Tosca ESG goals across the organization.
LCA Support
* Create and provide LCAs to the sales team as required through use of the Tosca approved LCA process and under the guidance of the Global Sustainability Data, LCA and Innovation manager.
Other Areas
* Support the Global Head of Sustainability in the development and implementation of the Global Sustainability Strategy.
* Conduct research and benchmarking analysis on sustainability best practices.
* Assist in preparing reports detailing progress towards product stewardship and sustainability goals.
* Complete administrative tasks to maintain accurate sustainability records and data.
* Complete ad-hoc analysis as required.
* Comply with any other requirements as determined by the Global Head of Sustainability.
Your Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability or Environmental Science or a related field with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
* Strong understanding of ESG related regulations (i.e. EU CSRD, EU and US EPR’s, PPWR, UK PPT, etc.)
* Technical experience in implementing sustainability improvements in a matrix organization.
* Interest and passion for sustainability.
* Experience with data analysis and visualization software/tools.
Additional expertise appreciated
* Knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks.
* Experience in LCA, knowledge of climate standards (SBTi, CDP).
* Experience and/ or knowledge of ESG regulations.
* Experience with LCAs and/ or LCA software.
Competencies
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and database management.
* A self-starter with solid planning and analytical skills, requiring minimal supervision. This includes a demonstrated ability to identify and advocate for newly identified opportunities.
* Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
