We are currently seeking an Assistant Transport Planner/ Transport Planner to join our vibrant and reputable Reading Transport team. The role would suit a transport planner with a broad understanding of all elements of the transport planning profession ideally with a focus on transport planning for land development projects but with the ability to work on public sector commissions as well. This is a great opportunity to join a busy group with a strong forward workload and an established track record. Our Reading office is based at Caversham Bridge House, just a short walk from Reading Station. We have a large team of Transport Planners and Engineers that collaborate with a wide variety of disciplines to deliver effective solutions to our clients. You will play an important role in developing and influencing transport strategies, placemaking and sustainability. This will include preparing transport reports and getting involved in design and modelling of active travel, public transport and highway schemes. About You We are looking for people with the right skills and enthusiasm to build our team. Although not essential, you will typically be degree qualified in Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering or a related field, but all candidates with relevant experience and skills will be considered. You will have experience and understanding of the planning system and experience in a mix of preparing Transport Assessments, Travel Plan and technical documents, with a good knowledge of relevant design standards and Junction modelling / analysis and experience of relevant software packages, including Microsoft Excel, TRICS, TEMPRO and Junctions 10/LinSig. To succeed in this role, you will be a positive and enthusiastic team player but critically, you will have a passion for transport planning.
