Description Job Description Are you looking for a dynamic case management role and an opportunity to develop skills in diverse areas such as risk management, whilst contributing to the management of restricted patients in Scotland? We have an opportunity for a colleague to take up a role as Senior Casework Manager in the Restricted Patient Team. The team supports Scottish Ministers in discharging their responsibilities in the oversight of restricted patients – mentally disordered offenders sent to hospital by the courts, or prisoners transferred to hospital. This post sits within a busy and committed team. The Team Leader is supported by two Senior Casework Development Leads and the team consists of four Senior Casework Managers (including this post), seven Casework Managers and five hub members. The successful candidate will work closely with the other Senior Casework Managers to manage the casework priorities of the team and will have responsibility for the management of complex cases. The post includes line management responsibility for two Casework Managers. As part of this post you will encounter sensitive, and often graphic, details of offences and offender behaviours and staff support is available. Responsibilities Working with other managers in the team to identify, plan and deliver priorities, including the identification of higher risk cases. Oversee patient casework within the team, guiding casework managers in their work, ensuring cases remain on track and risk is identified and managed appropriately. Act as lead caseworker for the highest risk cases, building in depth knowledge of patient circumstances, ensuring all deadlines are met and Scottish Ministers positions are evidence based. Production of high quality, written submissions to the minister making recommendations, based on the accurate analysis of (often complex) multi-disciplinary team information and feedback. Liaise with clinical teams to ensure patients are rehabilitated at an appropriate pace balancing the risks they pose to the public against the rights of the patient. Support the teams learning and development, working with Senior Development Leads to provide guidance and support to team members to help them develop in their roles. Managing critical incidents, i.e. absconding, in line with current guidance/timescales, including participation in the out of hours rota. Working effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including Police Scotland, MAPPA, clinical teams, Ministers and senior colleagues – attending meetings and case reviews virtually and in-person where required. Assessing and processing cross border transfer requests for both restricted and non-restricted patients to enable patients to move in and out of Scottish jurisdiction.
