Job Description:
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Integrated Health and Social Care Occupational Therapy Service.
We are based in Cowal Community Hospital in Dunoon and cover the beautiful Cowal peninsula of Argyll and Bute.
You would be part of a dynamic and dedicated team providing a client centred, seamless service to in-patients within Cowal Community Hospital and the local community.
You will be involved in the assessment, rehabilitation, reablement, provision of equipment and minor/major adaptations for adults with physical disability or illness. The role is varied and can include rapid response work as part of the Extended Community Care Team to prevent hospital admissions and facilitate hospital discharges. We also respond to our local A&E department.
You will need to be flexible and be able to prioritise and manage your time effectively.
We work very closely with our Community Nursing, AHP, Social work and Care and Repair colleagues. We also enjoy good relationships with our GP Practices.
Good communication skills and multi-disciplinary team working are essential. You will be involved in service development and able to provide clinical leadership and support to junior staff and to deputise for the Team Lead as required.
The organisation is committed to supporting your professional development.
You will have regular supervision and performance reviews with access to appropriate training to enable you to provide optimum care.
HCPC registration and a full driving licence are essential.
Dunoon is easily commutable from Glasgow and Inverclyde.
Part-time hours or job share could be considered. Consideration would also be given to a band 5 seeking a development post and we would welcome your interest to discuss further.
