We have a secondment opportunity for current clinical site managers within the capacity team. The post holder will be pivotal in the Capacity Team, leading and coordinating capacity to support effective clinical flow for elective and emergency pathways while maintaining patient safety and providing visible senior clinical leadership out of hours on all matters relating to the management of the Hospital sites in the role of Operational Commander on call.
The post holders will be professional clinical role models who inspire confidence, demonstrating excellent communication, interpersonal, organisation, prioritisation, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with the confidence and ability to escalate issues outside of the role of responsibilities. You will demonstrate attention to detail and have the ability to collate complex information from multi-factorial sources, analyse the bed capacity situation using information technology, pre-empt planned and non-planned admissions, and ensure there are consistent, proactive systems.
You will have a good understanding of patient flow, discharge, and site operations and will have the skills to work collaboratively with clinical and operational leads to support and deliver an efficient and effective service which contributes to the achievement of national and local performance standards.
Main duties of the job
* The Capacity Matron will lead Clinical Site meetings daily, escalating issues to the Divisional Management Team or Head of Patient Flow.
* Will be responsible for the overall management of inpatient beds throughout the Trust by effectively managing and professionally leading the Capacity Management Team.
* Provide a visible presence supporting and liaising within the clinical areas to facilitate patient flow and improve flow through to the specialty base wards and improve the utilisation of the Patient Discharge Lounge.
* Lead and ensure that the Trust is fully supported on each site with experienced Clinical Site and Capacity managers who have a proficient understanding of how to maximise capacity and flow for both planned, unplanned, and emergency care.
* Lead in a dynamic and proactive way, demonstrating operational leadership both in and out of hours, having an overview of site safety.
* Manage and minimise the impact on patient experience related to any capacity and flow concerns.
* Working closely with the Head of Patient Flow, you will be required to undertake project work to support delivery of UEC improvements.
* Be accountable for the Capacity Management Team maintaining accurate and live information related to capacity and flow with an oversight of both internal and external reporting requirements.
* Be accountable alongside the ward Matrons to ensure patient safety is maintained at all times with an ethos of right patient, right place first time.
