Job Purpose
To manage a caseload of motorbike, moped, push bike and e scooter Fast Track/MOJ RTA cases through all stages of the investigation and litigation process.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage a caseload of MOJ (Part 8) or Part 7 cases.
2. Deliver robust quality claims handling with a key focus on client outcomes, proactively litigate, generate fee income, and contribute to the general success of the business.
3. Assess liability and quantum, including reviewing medical reports, researching, obtaining relevant case law, drafting schedules of special damages, and assessing suitable awards for compensation.
4. Identify cases where proceedings would be tactically beneficial to litigate and proceed accordingly.
5. Take a practical but commercial approach to settlements and advise clients on litigation/cost risks.
6. Achieve various targets related to profit costs and issuing settlements without compromising the firm’s integrity.
7. Liaise appropriately and timely with sources, medical agencies, experts, third party insurers, and other relevant parties to ensure proactive case progression.
8. Attend court hearings to make representations in respect of the claim and, where necessary, instruct Barristers to represent clients at hearings and obtain formal advice on quantum and liability issues.
9. Undertake any other tasks deemed relevant and reasonable by the business.
Experience and Knowledge
1. The successful candidate must be “a biker” in terms of owning and/or riding a motorbike or have experience in handling bike claims.
2. Qualified Solicitor, Member/Fellow of CILEX or experienced employment law legal advisor/paralegal with experience in RTA claims handling.
3. Excellent litigator with strong drafting skills and the ability to negotiate appropriate settlements at the optimum time.
4. A solid working knowledge of the CPR, legislation, and relevant case law.
5. Competent in working with a case management system and good knowledge of MS Office.
6. Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
7. Focus on delivering quality service to clients and the firm.
8. Ability to compile and analyze data and act according to the results.
9. Commercially minded, able to see opportunities to optimize outcomes on cases for both the client and the firm.
