We have an exciting opportunity to join our team of Healthcare Scientists working in the Clinical Measurement and Engineering Unit of Northern Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering, for a fixed term to cover maternity leave.
This role involves working clinically in outpatient and theatre settings, with a range of teams in multiple specialties (ophthalmology, orthopaedics, anaesthetics) and potentially aiding in general service review and improvement activities. Consequently, we are looking for a highly motivated person with excellent clinical, scientific and communication skills.
• Interview date: Thursday 1 May 2025
• 37 hours 30 minutes/week

The role will be based primarily in two clinical services, visual electrodiagnostics (VED) and spinal cord monitoring (SCM). The post-holder will perform VED tests on patients in an outpatient environment and report these investigations clinically. Separately, they will also deliver intraoperative neuromonitoring for patients undergoing spinal surgery. Service-specific training will be provided as required, but an understanding of neurophysiology and clinical experience in performing patient investigations is essential.
In addition to the routine clinical work, there will likely be opportunities to get involved in a range of technical and scientific service development activities, in the two main clinical services or other services within the department, which could provide additional experiences to support your registration.
We would consider applications from people looking for part time working, a secondment or other flexible working arrangements. We welcome applications from people who are working towards clinical scientist registration (e.g. by the Academy of healthcare science equivalence route).
