Finance Business Partner & Closing Controller
Job Description
Ensuring the relevant UK entities' (which include companies and branches) P&C technical results are planned, forecasted, analysed and reported correctly and in compliance with the relevant accounting standards, regulations and local/Group requirements.
Ensuring the quality of services received from EMEA and Group Finance teams and their suitability for local reporting needs. Analysis of underlying data and working with the UK and EMEA teams for value adding commentary for local Boards, committees and other ad hoc needs.
Responsibilities
* Build strong relationships and work closely with underwriters, Technical Accounting teams and MGA teams for in depth understanding of all products and their reporting
* Review, adjustments and presentation of the annual Legal Entity underwriting and the technical aspects of the operating plans
* Analysis and production of quarterly technical landing commentary and analysis against plan
* Reviewing the EMEA Finance Quarterly Close process and ICS controls ensuring that the UK entities are in compliance with IFRS, UKGAAP and group and UK Solvency requirements
* Review of assistance entries in SCOR's client administration platform, OMEGA, as a last resort to ensure an accurate quarterly closing
* Preparation of accurate top GL (late general ledger adjustments) entry files for upload by the Finance/Reporting team
* Review and improvement of technical reporting management information for relevant Board and Audit Committee meetings
* Being the UK Finance OMEGA expert and assisting the with OMEGA analysis
* Being a key point of contact with EMEA Finance teams to provide support for Technical Accounting, UK Finance, Reserving, Claims, Underwriters Analysts and Auditors on technical closing matters
* Provide technical support on all questions related to IFRS 17 reporting, both internal and external
* Build strong relationships and work closely with Divisional and Group teams, EMEA Finance teams, UK P&C teams and UK Finance
* Preparation and processing of local specific technical entries such as fast-close and earning pattern adjustments
* Other ad hoc requests and projects
Qualifications
Experience:
* Qualified degree in Finance, Accountancy, Actuarial studies or equivalent experience
* Strong knowledge of portfolio administration systems (OMEGA preferred)
* Good understanding of UKGAAP and IFRS 17 and specificities of the SCOR UK business
* Strong knowledge of insurance and reinsurance products
* Good knowledge of finance / accounting systems (SAP preferred)
* At least 10 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry
* Actuarial or Finance experience/exposure an advantage

* Good interpersonal and communication skills.
* Absolute integrity and discretion in handling matters of confidentiality.

Salary: £65000 - £70000 per annum + bonus and benefits
