Job overview
This role will support the CMO to lead and manage their co-directorate and their work across the Trust and with partners. Although not directly responsible for delivering day-to-day services, this will be a key role on the leadership team, helping to engage and bring teams together to create a vision, culture and approach to delivery that aligns with corporate priorities and trust-wide initiatives.
Main duties of the job
The role will be varied and will adapt over time depending on departmental priorities, however the postholder is expected to fulfil the following key functions:
1. You will work with directorates senior leadership team to develop plans and strategies to achieve organisational objectives, and then help to track these through to completion, providing support and guidance as necessary.
2. You will ensure that the CMO is briefed on all key issues arising, working pro-actively with management teams to pre-empt issues and resolve them on the Director’s behalf.
3. You will be a conduit for communications, ensuring that everyone across the co-directorate is aware of key issues and expectations.
4. You will link into other directorate and Hospital leadership teams, Project Teams and others to ensure they have a strong grip on the organisational priorities and are able to actively identify dependencies or links with initiatives.
5. You will personally lead on departmental projects as required.
6. You will be the lead point for linkages with corporate teams including overseeing the departmental budget, developing business plans, owning the risk register, liaising with HR, Finance and ICT as necessary.
7. You will ensure that the directorate has systems in place to ensure that we consistently meet deadlines and KPIs and problem solve with the relevant leaders when we are at risk of failing to deliver.

Qualifications
* Master’s degree in Management held or qualified by equivalent level of experience (degree does not need to be held)
* Evidence of continued Professional Development
* Project Management Qualifications such as Prince 2, MSP or similar qualifications or experience of Project Management commensurate with the role.
* Improvement methodologies such as QI, Lean
Knowledge, Training and Experience
* Demonstrable experience of managing and influencing change in large/complex organisations.
* Experience or working with senior stakeholders including Board level, presenting reporting and persuading and influencing them to a way of thinking
* Experience of the delivery of efficiency or/and cost improvement programmes with a complex organisation.
* Significant experience and a successful track record of project/programme management
* Knowledge of current NHS strategy and policy issues and ability to translate them to a local context and create local plans
* Experience of working in an NHS environment
* Experience of working in a complex cultural environment and able to demonstrate an improvement in ways of working between teams.
* Experience of working with datasets including analysis and collation, and using this to support an argument
* Experience of managing a team and working closely with workstreams.
* Contributor to research studies.
