Why Arup?
Arup is a multi–disciplinary firm of designers, planners, engineers, consultants and technical specialists, working across every aspect of today’s built environment. Together we help our clients solve their most complex challenges – turning exciting ideas into tangible reality as we strive to find a better way and shape a better world.
As a wholly independent organisation, we are owned in trust for the benefit of our employees and their dependants: with no shareholders or external investors we determine our own business priorities and direction.
The Opportunity:
Based within Arup’s Finance team, our Payroll Service Centre is accountable for the end to end processing of the monthly payroll for ARUP staff. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Advisor to boost these activities, reporting directly to the Payroll Deputy Team head. This is a broad and varied role with lots of opportunity to become involved in a wide range of activities. The role holder will have exposure to some aspects of international payroll processing and have the opportunity to participate in some dedicated project groups focusing on various topics, not just day-to-day payroll activity.
The Role:
The payroll department handles a wide range of tasks to ensure smooth and accurate operations. This includes processing starters and leavers, managing one-off payments, season ticket, and bicycle loans. Regular checks are made for payroll changes, tax uploads, and sickness absence records. Statutory absences, including maternity and allocated parental leave, are also managed. Additionally, the department oversees international payroll processing, reporting, and reconciliations, ensuring all data is aligned and accurate through payroll reconciliations and data cleansing. Various reports are generated, including third-party payments, and the team assists with correspondence and customer inquiries to maintain an effective communication service.
Is The Role Right For You?
We're Interested In Speaking With People Who:
1. Have a solid working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel.
2. Be able to work with an exceptionally high degree of accuracy and to tight timescales.

4. Demonstrate an understanding of payroll legislation and processes.
5. Be able to create and review procedures.
6. Possess process improvement experience.
