- -Supportthe Business Advisor (Specialty Medicine & Urgent Care) in providing arobust financial planning and reporting service to the Divisions includingmonth end closedown, financial forecasting and risk assessment
- -Managea small team of staff to ensure priorities are delivered to expected standardsand timescales, and that staff receive both regular appraisals and developmentopportunities
- -Analysefinancial and non-financial data in order to identify risks and opportunities
--Establishimmediate credibility at all levels and have excellent communication andinterpersonal skills, building positive working relationships with staff from awide variety of backgrounds and professions.
--Workwell under pressure in a busy operationalenvironment, prioritising conflicting demands as required whilst maintaining acalm and professional attitude at all times
--Deputisefor the Business Advisor as required, including representation at a number ofsenior forums.
You will be a qualified accountant, proficient in the use of a wide rangeof IT systems including a financial ledger. You will also be able to work withnon-finance staff to present complex financial information in ways which will ensureengagement and understanding.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Business Advisor in providing a comprehensive financial management and business support service to the Division.
The post holder will be responsible on a day to day basis for the management of a small team providing financial planning, reporting, training and business support to the Division in addition to deputising for the Business Advisor in their absence.

Key Duties:
Financial Planning and Reporting
Supportsthe Business Advisor (Clinical Division) in providing financial support to theDivision and Service Lines.
Co-ordinatesand manages the process of annual budget setting for Division working within anagreed corporate framework.
Supportthe Business Advisor (Clinical Division) in monitoring and reporting uponpotential financial risks and risk minimisation strategies
Monitorand forecast expenditure trends/budgetary performance on a monthly basis,identifying variances & service issues for managers & advising themappropriately
Developsand maintains systems to monitor and update Division and Service Line financialplans and advise them on corrective actions where necessary.
Provide information on a monthly basis tocontribute to corporate financial reports.
Supportsthe Business advisor (Clinical Division) and Division Managers in theidentification of efficiency savings and provides a monthly schedule ofprogress against agreed targets
Provisionof Financial Advice and Training
Provideformal and informal training, advice and guidance to a wide variety of staff onStanding Financial Instructions and finance and business management issues inorder to improve financial awareness, performance, cost effectiveness, andefficiency, revenue generation and to maximise the use of assets.
ProvideBusiness Management and Decision Support
Supportthe Business Advisor (Clinical Division) in undertaking robust financialevaluation of proposed service changes and developments.
Assistsin the development and production of business cases and tender responses,generating options for investment, appraisal of the options and identificationof project resources.
Withthe Business Advisor (Clinical Division) ensure all changes in services ordevelopments are identified and that resource implications are quantified andaccounted for.
Contributeto the development on service line reporting in the Division and wider Trust.
WithBudget Holders, negotiate Service Level Agreements with a range of externalorganisations and ensure income is recovered.
Developand maintain benchmarking and costing apportionment and information to support thebusiness including the production of Reference Costs for the relevant servicelines within the Division.
Introduce,adapt and improve financial and information systems within the Division and thewider Trust to assist budget managers in decision making and planning.
Be an active Member of Multidisciplinary Teams
Prepareand present accurate financial information to inform a variety of decisionmaking forums, including formal reports and presentations to meetings linkingand interpreting financial, activity, and performance management information.
Workto develop strong relationships with clinicians and managers to develop aculture of shared responsibility for financial issues.
Manage a Small Team of Staff
Leads,manages and motivates a small team on a day to day basis, communicates clearlyand openly, creating a sense of trust and encouraging two waydiscussion and dialogue.
Monitorsthe work completed by Team members ensuring it is completed to time and qualityrequirements, and ensure members of the team are regularly appraised.
Completeappraisals of FMA staff and identify the training needs of the team members and ensure PDPs are inplace.

Participatein finance staff training & development activities
Representthe Finance Directorate contributing to and participating in Trust wideprojects and groups to provide a range of financial and business managementsupport.
