Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our team of rotational senior clinical pharmacists. This rotational post consists of 6 month rotations across a wide variety of specialist clinical areas including critical care, specialist medicine, surgery and nutrition, microbiology and women's and children's medicine.

Prescribing is a key part of a developing pharmacist's role therefore you will be given the opportunity to undertake this training. As a senior clinical pharmacist, you will be expected to support education and training of more junior staff including foundation trainee pharmacists.

Main Duties of the Job
1. Providing a clinical service to the wards, discharge service, outpatients, technical services unit and other service users.
2. Attend clinical ward rounds, clinical and multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate.
3. Regularly recording clinical interventions and activities.
4. Provide specialist pharmaceutical information to medical, nursing and other staff within the Trust where appropriate.
5. Promote the safe, appropriate and economic use of drugs.
6. Take part in the emergency On-call Pharmacist rota working alone as the On-call Pharmacist providing medicines information, advice and supply out of hours and sourcing of urgently required drugs from external suppliers and other sites across MSE.
7. Support the Trust Medication Safety Officer and Pharmacy Risk Governance Pharmacist with the medicines optimisation and governance agenda.
8. Monitor the safe and secure storage of medication both within the pharmacy department and on the wards.
9. Facilitate implementation of local and national guidelines where appropriate e.g. NICE.
10. Keep accurate patient medication and drug issue records using the Pharmacy Wellsky computer system.
